  • Turning 26

Starting to feel age catching up but not in my heart. haha. The youngest age i was given recently was 16years old! Can u believe it? My face always gives people a feeling i'm still schooling. Hard to convince people when u need to without a mature face sometimes. Double edge sword. YOung boys thinking i'm the same age as them talking to me. *faint*. But i rather have a young look forever haha..no need botox..hahaha.

Really happy this birthday. Not because i've a big birthday celebration or party but cos people remember. Thank you Wendy for sms-ing all the way from Aussie. And my old colleagues for making efforts to celebrate for me. Long time since i'm back at Jack's Place:)

And big thank you for all my airport babes for the thoughtful present. And Von/Qiu for delivering right to my door. These little small things meant a lot..muacks.

Thanks sis for the bakerzin strawberry cake. First time trying their cakes. Not bad.
Thanks G.Gs for the lovely sms except fen forget le:( *sob*.haha kidding it's ok.

Little things make me happy more than big blast celebration. I enjoy quality time with a small group of closed ones than crowd of people. So i'm happy this birthday. Sweet and quiet one..:)

oh forget, thanks lee for your Sapi. I gave mum to try today and was a little too spicy.

The past week has been quite an exciting one. Worked at the Maritime Expo this year at Expo Exhibition Hall. Was assigned to this local company dealing with winches. I really know nuts about marine stuff nor anything to do with winches. But i guess my experience in service helps, even i don't know much about the product, i just try to grab any interested parties haha. The boss quite appreciate my efforts and had kindly asked me if i'm interested to help them. But i'm really not going back admin churning out delivery orders, secretarial work, so nope. ha, he even tried to intro his son to me *faint*. So sorry, i can't less he minus the smoking, drinking and flirting with girls...
but now, no. Only work in my mind, no man..haha.

Really enjoyed with doing exhibitions and get to know a couple of friends who work with me through the exhibitions, really nice and getting all the goodies, exchanging, meeting all the business people in different industries. Hope to meet u girls sometime again if ever there's a chance in another exhibition.

Was dead tired today after trying to go 3 interviews in a day and the last interview i was already feeling sleepy, bad:( Cos the manager was so patient to explain so much. Hope will work out something soon...

Have a nice week ahead everyone!

  • Now, Discover your strength

My dear friend has kindly lend me a book she thought would be useful for me. "Now, Discover your strengths" by Marcus Buckingham & Donald O.Clifton.

I must say it was quite an interesting book. Just a few pages into it, my mind is already acknowledging to the words of the authors. At least it keeps someone like me (who don't read) going on.

And, while showering, oh yeah again, i thought of things..
I remembered a few interviews i attended from long ago till now, some HR will ask, "what is your strengths" & then followed by "what is your weakness".

Suddenly i felt these are silly questions to ask IF the candidate don't even know himself/herself. I'm not doubting the experience of any HR, but the book made me realise something that someone having more than 10years of working experience may not necessary doing something of his strength all these years. But well i guess, HR can only presume u know yourself, and from the CV in front of them, get the most idea of what kind of person u are & your skills. And of course, what u want to hire. The attitude or the talent or skills.

It is indeed true that people focus too much on weaknesses more than their strengths. It's the same as mistakes made will be imprinted on others all their life but the contribution and sucess someone made are forgotten in no time. Even bosses and employers made the mistakes or neglect to take the effort to discover their employees strengths, maximise on them and it'll be an advantage to the company as well.

Anyway, just wanted to say that perhaps some of u out there who are just working for the sake of working, have u ever ponder what is your true talent and where your strengths lies in? Or maybe it doesn't matter to u as long as money comes in...

  • New version of Spinning

As usual, my brain seems to think of funny things when i'm having my shower.
Haven been visiting the gym, lazy plus no mood. Doesn't help that i had more serious PMS & cramp this month. Not good.
I was thinking, gyms should think of ways to spice up their gym classes after a period of time. Otherwise it'll be so bored for regular members.

Not forgetting there's only a bunchful of instructors who really knows how to choose tracks that matches the rymthem & impact expected for a good workout class.

Spinning is my pet class & some instructors if chose the wrong songs can be so hard to motivate me (or perhaps some others) to spin hard. But i don't blame them cos not everyone has a gift for music rymthm.

Oh the funny thing i come up with while i was showering today was, making Spinning class to be like a 'Daytona'. Which means, investing on a screen on each bike such that whoever is on the bike for the class will be competing with each other. It'll be shown and screened on the Screen in front of u, which riders are infront or behind u, whether u're approaching a hill or coming down. Your position in the pelaton. I think it is an interesting version to keep riders riding hard and felt interested throughout the class. I would really look forward to it if any gym comes out with this idea. Of course, the music must go on:)

Having the right music is important for the type of class.

  • When Autumn comes...

It was more than 3yrs ago,
    that autumn arrived.

It was more than 3yrs ago,
my eyes opened for the world.

It was more than 3yrs ago,
I start to see the good & bad of people

It was more than a year ago,
I realise the value of Love.

It was more than a year ago,
I realise how people forget how to live.

    It was now,
I realise people sometimes forget how to love.

    It was now,
i realise how tears just flow when ur closest broke that trust.

    It was now,
    i realise how money,power,jealousy rule people's heart.

    It was now,
i realise you don't need much to live.

    It was now,
i realise one thing u can never do without,
    is Love.

Love gives meaning to what u have. Or they are just meaningless ownership. What are u chasing so hard for...

  • Schools being run like business

I can't help but agreed very much to a public writing into ST Forum today. I was working at a school myself last year and was sadden by how the school is run in certain way. But can't do anything as everything, school culture and direction were set by school principal & management.

Long gone are the days where schools are a place where we focus in nurturing our students, our future leaders and developing them as a person. The focus & priorities had changed so much. I'm not sure of other schools.
Teachers seems to have unneeded stress over how they'll be graded on top of their core work.

School management seems to only focus on the number of awards the school can get, and will only go all out to support any new ruling that will bring the school's status to a higher prestigious level. But how about the students? Never is there mention of how or a better way to nurture the students. My first feeling is like, since when are the schools run like a business institution. If a principal or management wants to run it this way, i feel u might as well go out to put your skills in a business organisation. Schools shouldn't be run this way. It's about developing our young, not striving only for awards like how some parents send their kids to tuition & endless lists of lessons till they barely enjoy childhood.

Is it something coming out from the Ministry of Education such that school principals are going all out to get as many awards as possible to get recognition or what? I don't understand but it really disappoints me. i hope someone with the ability to make some changes can ponder over this.
