I can't help but agreed very much to a public writing into ST Forum today. I was working at a school myself last year and was sadden by how the school is run in certain way. But can't do anything as everything, school culture and direction were set by school principal & management.

Long gone are the days where schools are a place where we focus in nurturing our students, our future leaders and developing them as a person. The focus & priorities had changed so much. I'm not sure of other schools.
Teachers seems to have unneeded stress over how they'll be graded on top of their core work.

School management seems to only focus on the number of awards the school can get, and will only go all out to support any new ruling that will bring the school's status to a higher prestigious level. But how about the students? Never is there mention of how or a better way to nurture the students. My first feeling is like, since when are the schools run like a business institution. If a principal or management wants to run it this way, i feel u might as well go out to put your skills in a business organisation. Schools shouldn't be run this way. It's about developing our young, not striving only for awards like how some parents send their kids to tuition & endless lists of lessons till they barely enjoy childhood.

Is it something coming out from the Ministry of Education such that school principals are going all out to get as many awards as possible to get recognition or what? I don't understand but it really disappoints me. i hope someone with the ability to make some changes can ponder over this.
