  • $1.40 Tou Fu

I'm too speechless at lunch time today that i decided to write down here. This 2days was at Woodlands training. So we were lazy to walk out to eat, there's only one stall at the canteen. So no choice, everyone had to order from that particular stall which usually sells mixed dishes with rice. Yesterday i had rice with 2Vege+1fish = $2.90. Well okay. Though last time at my work place, rice with 3 vege = $2 only!

Today, i brought my bread to eat and wanted to only order the toufu to eat without the rice. The stall malay lady give me 2pieces of small tou fu on top she add the gravy with 1pieice of mushroom with 2 tiny (barely visible to my eyes) minced pork. So as usual we bring our ordered dish to the cashier, the cashier will take a glance at it and give the price, she look at it and say $1.60! I wana puke and just stare at the 2small pieces of toufu. I just stood there and look at her. $1.60? She said "if u want, i can give u discount, $1.40. cos have meat mah she said" I was like, what? i try hard to find that 2tiny barely visible mince pork.I know how much Tou Fu is sold outside. And some more 2vege +1fish with rice is $2.90 now one dish of toufu gives u $1.40.

I really felt like returning back the toufu to her. But just paid and go. I promise i try not to eat there if i work there next time. I'll 'ta bao' my food from my place and go there. There's no price listed, and the cashier just give the price however she wants.
I know it's just 2 pieces of toufu, but it's just ridiculous. Cos i know how much tou fu cost and i eat mix rice stall quite often everywhere, i know the price. i just can't swallow stall holders who just give price like how they want.

Incident 2, i was at airport then eating at one of the staff canteen, i love mee pok a lot. i can practically eat everyday if i want. So one day, i decided to order mee pok. But that day i wasn't very hungry to i say upfront to the stall lady that i want small size portion at $2.20. She wasn't happy when she heard. Cos usually staff order, they never state price and just order. Even though price stated was $2.50. They'll just say $3 after they serve to u. So this time when she heard me say small and $2.20, she said, are u sure? small is very little and she show me the size of the bowl. I saw and say okay. Cos even if little won't be that terrible.

U guess what? She was unhappy and took the noodles and start immersed it into boiling water. When she pour it into the small bowl, it's only half the bowl. And mind u the bowl is the really small one which they normally use for side dish for soup. Inside, i stare at the bowl, i can practically tell u i can finish with 2mouths. That is how little. I was speechless and the lady don't even want to look at me just take the money and i left. I know she do it purposely and then dont' even dare to lift her head to look at me. I never order from that stall from that day. Cos i don't respect behaviour that is not'professional'. After i told me colleague, she said she wouldn't even take, and will just give it back to the owner, pay and leave.

Do u have ur own stories? Well, even though u're just a stall operator, every profession must show ur professionlism in your work. Even if u're just a cleaner, i respect u a lot if u do it with pride and professionalism. I'll never forget a very old cleaner aunty at airport. She's the only one that perfectly clean her whole area so attentively. Mind u, she is really old already, can be my grandmother kind, but throughout her entire shift, she never ever sit, and clean non-stop. Her break time, she's always back on the dot and start cleaning again. I've really utmost respect for her and she gives me motivation whenever i see her.

  • Compassion

Compassion can be one of the hardest thing to give, are u able to be compassionate to every single soul out there regardless of situations and even your enemies? Like how buddha teaches us and reach out to everyone in need?

Many a times, it's a blessing to have love ones who care for u. They always want the best for you. But what is the best for yourself and what is the best in the eyes of them is different. What they feel will bring u happiness in future, may bring u regrets for life. When there is a conflict, it's hard to swallow. Everyone has to learn to let go, nothing last forever. That is the truth in life. Impermanence. There is no point holding on to something so tightly. Live and let live. Life is short.

But i believe in Karma, well, let's learn to be compassionate to every single soul, regardless of where they're from or how difficult the situation u're in.

Our true enemy is our Enmity, not our enemies - stonepeace

  • 9th May Vesak Day

Right after the Public Holiday Labour Day next Fri will be followed by Vesak Day on the 9th May. Hmm i just saw that in Thailand it falls on the 8th May instead. The exact date of Vesak varies according to the various lunar calendars used in different traditions. It is also known as the Buddha's Birthday:) Happy Birthday :) It actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment Nirvana, and passing (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha.

I just read on a website on some types of buddhism and i think i'm more towards Mahayana Buddhism. Theravada Buddhism is more towards Sri Lankan and Burmese buddhist communities. Well all are buddhism, it's an eye opener for me each time to learn more about the different kinds of buddhism and types of ceremonies carried out in each countries. I should have chosen buddhism as one of the modules in my Philosophy major:( Well too late for now. I thought it'll be like preaching buddhism. But recently i found out many answers like many others through Buddhism. It's not just religion to me, it's more teaching of the way of life and explanations of the truth in life. But about attaining Nirvana, i've yet to be enlightened more about that.

When reading some of the buddhist books, i felt like reading philosophy many times. It don't feel like a religion but guiding u through life and throwing questions at u that u never really stop and ponder over.

I left gym today and cross over to Takashimaya today to see the Vesak Day Celebration organised by the Singapore Buddhist Federation. It's a big tentage with some buddhas statues. Many stalls selling food to raise funds and other buddhist associations. Buddhism here is really different here compared to my recent trip to thailand. It's ok, all our destination are the same.

  • Good Sports brands

Ahhh... i've a weakness for good sports brand. I think i really am meant to be a guy but was born a girl haha. I like to see sports shop more than pretty little girly apparels. I'll rather look at supermarkets than looking at ladies shoe shop. Unless i need them then i go look into them keke.

This 3 days World of Sports is having 40% sale on most items if u have Passion card or world of sports card.Today is the last day. Initially didn't really bother about it but wanted to look for a top for my mum who's joining some yoga class. But ended up, i saw SALOMON! arghhh...this brand is always so damn expensive and when i see the 40%, my jaw dropped. I can't help it but got a small bagpack and a 3quarter exercise pants for my gym. I'm hopeless when comes to good sports brand. Salomon is really good quality material. It does not have a big market in Singapore so whatever products that comes in is limited and depending on the marketing person who bring them in. It's a good outdoor brand. I supported it since my skating days, till doing a project in Uni on it, and kena scolded by it. Till now, still supporting it.

I like to wear 3 quarts i realise, tights are too short (Not less u've nice skinny legs with nice butts:p) long pants are too hot for Singapore and when u exercise. so 3quarts is the best when exercising:)

ok, it's no looking at the windows in the shops till my next pay day. haiz. Don't think will have the time too when work start. And then won't be able to go to gym. I like to go daily if possible to wind down but it's never possible once work start. I wonder how some can do it. For me not possible cos i never seems to work office hours:( duh. It takes at least a week to bring back the stamina if i stop for 1month. Doesn't feel good to be breathless halfway thru!

Anyone know where to get a waterproof cap? I realise many sports brands goes into waterproof apparrels, bags and shoes but not caps. All are made of some kinda of cloth material and not really waterproof.

  • Fogging in Singapore

How often is your house/flat/condo being fogged?

I happen to be so lucky as to be right at home when the fogging occurred. As usual, once i heard the 'machine gun' goes off, i've to close all my windows as my nose is very sensitive to smell, and i hate smoke.

Closing windows is easy, the difficult part is to block my rubbish chute in the kitchen and make it somewhat airtight. But of course, there isn't anything around that i can block the door of the rubbish chute tight. And the result of each fogging spree is my whole kitchen filled with cockroaches lying either dead or half dead. And it has to happen between 11-12noon when i'm about to cook lunch. Do i have the mood? NO! And all the crockery and utensils are all 'fogged'!

Have to wash everything again, and with the cockroaches still moving, how i wish i've someone to just sweep them out. I don't like to kill but last time, it's so bad that i've to bring out the baygone to spray some dead. Otherwise i'll just be looking at them and can't cook:( haiz.

I saw a forum where some are arguing about the effects of fogging. One had the fishes dead in the fish tank. Are there long term side effects? Sigh, and how many more times i've to see the floor filled with crawling cockroaches:( It's the "FEAR FACTOR" ok....aiyo....

  • Hot Hot Hot!

I've love Kevin Kern's piano pieces on the first time i heard it at a CD shop donkey years ago. It's calming and peaceful. It's very widely played. Here is his site if u share the same love for his music http://www.kevinkern.com/

This few weeks is freaking hot. Sticky and sweaty even if u're at home. Agree? Just checked today's weather, 26-33degrees. It seems more than that! But humidity hit 60-95 percent. That's quite high. Anyone visiting singapore, u'll surely feel sticky at the end of the day:p

  • sunshine after the rain

bleh, nothing to talk about. Today is the last day with my airport babes. I'll be taking a short break. So anything just drop me an email:)
Hopefully i can empty my mind (not empty my brain though, rusty enough!) and back fresh to start my new journey. Let past be past.
Haven been hitting the gym, my muscles becomes like fats liao. My sunburn is peeling off badly on my arms. Will work harder in the gym when i'm back weeeeee!!!
I think i'll have more time with my old friends again & filling up my spare time so that my mind stay focus and don't think sideways again.

  • Saddest April Fools

Yesterday was April's Fools Day. How it came about hmmm... have any idea?
However, it marks one of the most painful and saddest day in my life. I finally found out what is the meaning of love and it's the day i had to say goodbye as well. For the sake of one love, i have to choose to give up another. I wish i won't have to make such a painful decision again.
One should feel lucky and blessed to have all your loved ones beside u. So treasure them this day....

    As long as u're well...khccpkhun
